Icebox Canyon in Red Rocks near Las Vegas comes to life with water. 500 feet above this its snowing!

This is the left ‘headwall’ in Icebox Canyon at Red Rock NCA near Las Vegas. Normally this area is high and dry but today I sloshed out into the murk and caught this waterfall booming off of it. This is about 2 miles from the car and over some moderately rough and today slippery terrain.

Almost 2 million people ‘over there’ but over here: this.
This is why I love living here; in an hour or so you can be so alone that it’s almost scary. Well, okay it IS scary some times but that’s the beauty of our wilderness and public lands.

I love being out here.
I can’t explain it, I love this desert.
