Contributing

How does it work?

Simple: Anyone can contribute for free!

We have a human team of editors that will review the photo submissions to make sure that they are:

      1. Not porn
      2. Not ads
      3. Are not too ugly for the site (this is subjective, based on the editors)

When you contribute, your photo will go into the "review" section and will show up in the near future after our editors have approved it.

How many photos should I contribute?

We know you have a BUNCH of HDR Photos. Please do not "dump" them all at once. We want to keep the front page fresh with a good variety, so we are likely not to approve multiples in the same day. We recommend you choose one or two of your favorites each day.

Will my photos get rejected?

Photos rarely get rejected, but it does happen from time to time. Usually, the reason for the rejection is a bad URL. We require that the URL you provide with your photo is to a webpage that contains the photo (preferably a larger version of it).

Do I still have rights to my photo?

Of course! We are not claiming any rights to your work. Think of it as a free advertisement to bring people to your blog, website, or portfolio. We are not going to re-sell digital rights to your photos or any of that nonsense. Consider us a "much smarter version" of the HDR Group on Flickr.

What happens after I submit my photo?

Your photo will be reviewed and rated by at least three of our editors. Based on the total rating, your photo may be "Featured" or if you're really lucky, become an "Editor's Pick." All photos that have completed the review and rating process will be displayed in the "Latest" section of HDR Spotting. This is why it may take up to a few days before your photo appears on HDR Spotting.

Want to be an editor?

along with a cover letter. We will rotate editors on a regular basis to keep ideas and people fresh. Please note that "Trey Ratcliff" is not an editor, so do not contact him concerning this please.

Do you have a complaint?

Oh no! We are trying our hardest to be fair in a difficult world. Please be patient as we go through the growing pains of iteration on a next-generation gallery. However, if you are just really upset and have a complaint (better yet, a solution!), please .
